Science Hangout presents news from the world of science along with occasional articles on evergreen topics. We try to collect news that will be interesting to readers of a wide range of ages and backgrounds.
We launched this site in May 2020 with the idea of giving children home from school because of the COVID-19 epidemic a place to visit regularly.
This site is the work of Karine Jegalian, a biologist and award-winning science writer. She has a Ph.D. from MIT, where her research focused on the molecular evolution of the X and Y chromosomes. She has published journalism in newspapers and magazines and worked as a science writer for the National Institutes of Health and for international genome projects. Her amazing, brilliant, elementary school-age daughter is her editor.
